Cyclone Dana: Maritime ports asked to hoist local cautionary signal no 3

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist cautionary signal No. 3 as the Cyclonic storm "Dana" over the East-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved West-Northwestwards.

It now lies over East-central Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal and was centered at 06 pm on Wednesday about 650 km Southwest of Chattogram port, 595 km Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 585 km South of Mongla port and 555 km South-Southwest of Payra port, said a Met office bulletin.

It is likely to move in a West-Northwesterly direction and intensify further.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the Cyclone center is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls.

The sea will remain very rough near the Cyclone center.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
